Apple claims that the 128GB storage on iPhones can help users save a significant amount of photos.
Apple continues to sell iPhones with a base version that offers 128GB of storage, even though iPhones today have all the high-end camera features.
Most people don’t agree with Apple’s decision to offer 128GB as a base, but the company has now gone a step further by claiming that 128GB is plenty for storing photos. Apple has released an ad claiming the “lots of storage” comment.
In the 30-second clip, a man wants to delete some of his photos from his iPhone to make room for other photos because he’s out of space (surprise, surprise). But then Apple adds a cheeky message saying that the iPhone 15 has “lots of storage for lots of photos.”
Apple made a big change by ditching the 64GB iPhone model and starting the lineup with a 128GB option four years ago, which is a long time in tech circles. Since then, Apple has been releasing new iPhones that keep getting major camera updates, making photos even bigger.
So the fact that Apple still considers 128GB storage to be a lot of storage is no longer true, especially if you only rely on the physical iPhone storage to store your data instead of spending extra money to buy space in iCloud or Google cloud storage.
You could also say that some iPhone buyers would be happy to delete photos to make room for new ones, but why not just make 256GB the default iPhone model and be happy to make more money from consumers?
It’s not like Apple doesn’t understand the need to up the storage game for iPhone users, as iPhone Pro versions today start at 256GB as the base storage model. We’re hoping for a change this year when the iPhone 16 series launches around September, or at least give more iCloud storage to keep them happy and on their side instead of forcing them to switch to Android.
